dagger
The new fare structure is also ushering in a new pricing structure which is kind or like Tango/Zip Plus. The lowest one-way fare is analogous to the Westjet/Zip/Tango pricing concept, of a low-end largely unrestructed fare that can be booked one way and which rises as the plane fills up. The Latitude fare is full Y in terms of booking rules, while Freedom appears to be J, with the J perks like the lounge access, priority checkin... The Latitude and Freedom fares appear to be half of what full Y and J have been until now. Instead of almost $4000 for a last minute J ticket, it will now cost $1900 plus taxes and surcharges. It will be interesting to see whether business travellers who have been travelling in Y because J is perceived as too expensive now move up. Fido
The Freedom fare is still a Y/c booking. There does not seem to be any movement on J fares yet.
dagger
Considering that they are giving some of the perks of J - Aeroplan bonus, dedicated check-in, lounge access - it begs the question whether there will even be a J.
Fido
I suspect that there will always be some J/c because the International aircraft have to pick up some flights. But, all Narrow-bodies all Y is worth a kopeck or two in a bet.
