Guest PortTack
I'm just wondering how people feel that all employees affected by the Jazz restructuring will be considered for employment opportunities at ZIP.....EXCEPT, the Jazz pilots. I had heard that the ACJ pilots contacted ACPA but it didn't lead to anything.
aBusDriver
ZIP is crewed from the pilot ranks at AC as per the ACPA - AC collective agreement. Are you suggesting that ZIP hire outside of this framework?
Guest BillyBigToe
ACPA does not hire pilots, Air Canada does, and I would sure like to think they give full consideration to all applicants.
Guest q650
ACPA decides who Air Canada hires.
Guest Dick Dastardly
I doubt we actually require any pilots for Zip but if pilots are required, the positions should be offered to layed of Jazz pilots first. It seems like the right thing to do.
Guest PortTack
What do you think I'm suggesting? That AC breaks your collective agreement? No, bad idea for everyone as Jazz Pilots have enough problems the compnay not following the collective aggreement and we wouldn't wish it on anyone. I'm pointing out that the FA's have an agreement, and in a Question/Answer publication Joe, the Jazz CEO points out that ALL affected employees will be considered for positions at ZIP. How is this possible for the Jazz pilots with out constructive dialogue with ACPA to make a fare arrangement for future hiring? When recalling starts whether it be one, two, or five years, it would be nice to have this option. The current arrangement is not fare and ACPA has not returned the phone call, why not? Guest BillyBigToe
Not true. ACPA only has a say if someone were to be added to other than bottom of the list. The only agreement we have with management is to have a minimum percent of new hires come from Jazz (there is no maximum) and there are no other conditions regarding hiring anyone else. Guest Tri-spool
I believe that when Air Canada starts to hire pilots again the Jazz pilots who have been interviewed and have had a medical, and are waiting on the list of 100 or so pilots who were screened 2 years ago will get priority as per the flow thru agreement. What else can you ask for? Currently, Air Canada has absolutely no plans to hire any new pilots, as they are having enough problems trying to find enough flying time for the ones they have. Hope that helps ! Cheers!
