Moon The Loon
I'll bet the Yanks are sorry they took it out of service back circa 1995. All they've got now are the clapped out U2's. Vulnerable to SAM's and other such things...
Tiho
The thing went from "Top Secret" to "Mothballed" virtually overnight. I seem to remember there being a lot of speculation as to what had suddenly made it obsolete. I remember some talk of something like "Aurora" being mentioned as the reason for the Blackbird's retirement, but I never did see anything in the way of spy shots or speculative artist's renderings. Probably the advancement in satellite technology was the reason for its demise.
Guest Nigol
I would think that the Americans have something else to replace the SR-71 in their "Top Secret" fleet. By de-classifing the SR-71 and flying the U2, they could be taking the 'heat' off of what they may have hiding in a hangar somewhere.
Guest MLD@YYZ
Try this website. It's called blackvault.com and has all kinds of X-plane pictures or at least it used to. I believe I saw something on the Aurora.
