Feds pull out, riots continue.

Portland sees thousands worship amid coronavirus restrictions hours before riots, fire at police union

Thousands of Christians gathered outdoors in Portland on Saturday to sing spiritual music amid the state’s coronavirus social distancing measures—just hours before a riot was declared across town and a separate crowd lit fire to the city police union headquarters.

Worshippers met in Waterfront Park on Saturday evening for an event dubbed “Riots to Revival.” Controversial Christian musician Sean Feucht, who has hosted similar gatherings on California beaches amid COVID-19 restrictions, led the crowd in song and some were even baptized. Most people flouted social distancing and did not wear masks or facial coverings, KGW reported.

“I’m excited to share with you some good news from Portland. Last night, we gathered thousands of people that came together,” Feucht told “Fox & Friends Weekend” Sunday morning.

'LET US WORSHIP' FOUNDER CALLS OUT CALIFORNIA LEADERS' CORONAVIRUS LOCKDOWN HYPOCRISY

“White, Black, Hispanic – we came and released our song of hope over this city. People gave their life to Jesus. Hundreds of people -- We baptized people in the river behind us. There was so much joy that took over the streets of that city last night."

Feucht estimated between 4,000 and 7,000 people attended the massive outdoor church service that happened just blocks away from the federal courthouse and acted as a counter-protest to bring worship, prayer, and acts of kindness to Portland. Only 600 people responded to a Facebook event to say they would attend.

Videos showed a large, close-knit crowd of people with their arms raised in praise. The city has seen more than two months of violence in the wake of the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25.

“Our tagline last night was ‘Riots to Revival,’ which we’re carrying with us into Seattle tonight. We just believe that the church has the ability to change the narrative. All of America has just seen these buildings burning, and they’ve seen this destruction and this violence, and the mainstream media seems to be infatuated with this. But what I’m telling you is that there’s another story of what God is doing in these cities and the church is rising up,” Feucht told Fox News’ Pete Hegseth.

A worship leader and founder of "Hold the Line” ministries, Feucht has been hosting "Let Us Worship" protests across California to encourage Christians to become more involved in politics and fight against the “double standard” seen in coronavirus restrictions.

Under Oregon Gov. Kate Brown’s latest executive order, faith-based gatherings are capped at 50 people for both indoor and outdoor services and require sanitization and social distancing, according to the Multnomah County website.

About 5 miles away, a large crowd marched to the Portland Police Association office late Saturday, erected a fence, pushed dumpsters into the street to block traffic, set a dumpster on fire, vandalized the building with spray paint, and destroyed security cameras. The Portland Police Bureau declared a riot at 11:35 p.m. when people broke a window to gain access to the building and started a fire inside.

Officers with the Oregon State Police and Portland Police Bureau warned all people, including press and lawful observers, to disperse or be subject to arrest, citation, or impact munitions. Police said a “hostile crowd” threw glass bottles and paint balloons and shined green lasers at officers. Three officers were injured, two of whom were transported to the hospital and released. Several people were arrested.

Before the violence broke out, hundreds gathered at rallies across the city in Peninsula, Laurelhurst, and Berrydale parks. Gatherings this week have been noticeably smaller than the crowds of thousands who turned out nightly for about two weeks in July to protest the presence of federal agents sent by the Trump administration to protect the federal courthouse and other properties downtown.

Democratic leadership in the city and state blamed the Trump administration for escalating tensions, and federal agents left Portland last week after Homeland Security reached a deal with Oregon State Police. But protesters had clashed with the Portland Police Bureau for weeks prior when demonstrations reached the city first on May 29.

Last week, Mayor Ted Wheeler warned protesters against “attempting to commit murder" by continuing the violence after federal officers already left the city, claiming they would be just “creating B-roll film” to be used in President Trump’s reelection campaign ads.

“When you commit arson with an accelerant in an attempt to burn down a building that is occupied by people who you have intentionally trapped inside, you are not demonstrating, you are attempting to commit murder," Wheeler said in a news conference Thursday with Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell.

Chicago protests: Restrictions imposed after chaotic night of unrest

Chicago police will limit access to the city's downtown after a night of violence and looting following reports of a police shooting.

Police Superintendent David Brown said the area will be restricted from 20:00 to 06:00 and a "heavy police presence" will continue until further notice.

He said the "shameful destruction" was "fuelled by misinformation" about a suspect shot by police on Sunday.

Social media videos showed hundreds of people looting and confronting police.

As of Monday, Chicago police have arrested over 100 individuals for looting, disorderly conduct and battery against police, among other charges.

In addition to widespread damage, police reported an exchange of gunfire with suspects in the early hours of Monday. City officials had temporarily suspended transportation services to the downtown area and raised bridges.

A number of videos posted on social media show vandalism and damage to shops. Some clips show individuals walking out of shops with items. In one video, a police officer is struck in the face with an object apparently flung by an individual in the street.

Officials said 13 officers were injured throughout the night, including one who was struck by a bottle. A civilian and a security guard were also injured by gunfire.

In one incident, police said they were arresting a suspect carrying a cash register when a vehicle passed by the officers and fired shots.

Chicago is one of several US cities that has experienced a recent surge in shootings and homicides. The city reported its deadliest day in 30 years in June.

What did officials say?

Mr Brown on Monday told reporters the "seeds for this shameful destruction we saw last night were sown...on Sunday afternoon", when police responded to a report of a man with a gun.

Mr Brown said police attempted to interview the suspect, who fled and fired shots at the officers. Officers returned fire, striking the individual, who Mr Brown described as a 20-year-old man with four prior arrests. The suspect is in hospital and expected to survive.

"After this shooting a crowd gathered on the South Side following the police action. Tempers flared, fuelled by misinformation, as the afternoon turned into evening," Mr Brown said. "[Chicago police] became aware of several social media posts encouraging looting downtown."

He described "car caravans" heading into the downtown area on Sunday night and said 400 officers were dispatched there.

"Criminals took to the streets with confidence there would be no consequences for their actions," Mr Brown said. "I for one refuse to allow these cowardly acts to hold our city hostage."

Chicago police are looking into security footage from last night to identify the suspects and a heavy police presence will be in place until further notice. Police will also work with other agencies. including transportation officials and state law enforcement in "a multi-layered plan", Mr Brown said.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot condemned the violence on Monday, calling on justice officials to hold the individuals responsible for the damage accountable. She highlighted the differences between Sunday's unrest and the protests in the wake of George Floyd's death.

"These individuals engaged in what can only be described as brazen and extensive criminal looting and destruction - and to be clear, this had nothing to do with legitimate, protected First Amendment expression."

"This was an assault on our city," she said, saying it also undermines Covid-19 recovery efforts.

She said small businesses and restaurants who were in the process of getting back to work were among the damaged storefronts.

The mayor added that the looters were not "poor people engaged in petty theft to feed themselves and their family, this was straight-up felony criminal conduct".

Mayor Lightfoot also defended Chicago police, saying officers deserve to work "without having to worry about shots being fired, projectiles being thrown, and being maced".

Addressing the individuals involved in last night's unrest, she said: "We are already at work finding you and intend to hold you accountable for your actions. I do not care whatever justification was given for this. There is no justification for criminal behaviour ever. You have no right."

Black people more likely to be arrested, charged, shot and killed by Toronto police, Ontario Human Rights Commission finds

Black people are more likely to be arrested, charged, shot and killed by Toronto police than white people and other racialized groups, according to new “highly disturbing” research released by the Ontario Human Rights Commission Monday.

An analysis of Toronto police arrest and charge data from 2013 to 2017 found Black people were “grossly overrepresented” in every charge category examined and “significantly” more likely than white people to be arrested and charged, according to “A Disparate Impact,” a new OHRC report released this week, the second report in the commission’s ongoing inquiry into racial profiling by the Toronto Police Service.

Overall, the charge rate for Black people was 3.9 times greater than for white people, and 7.1 times greater than other racialized groups, according to the report.

The results are “highly disturbing, and confirm what Black communities have said for decades — that Black people bear a disproportionate burden of law enforcement,” the OHRC said in a statement.

“The time for debate about whether anti-Black bias exists is over,” Ena Chadha, OHRC Interim Chief Commissioner, said in a statement. “It is time to make transformative changes in the institutions and systems of law enforcement that produce such disparate outcomes — community trust and safety, especially the safety of Black lives, depend on it.”

You'd have to be a complete moron to not realize the next question to ask.  OK, so blacks are arrested and charged at 3.9X the rate for whites - until you know the relative rate at which blacks commit crimes worthy of being arrested and charged versus whites - you have nothing.  US stats show a massive disproportion of crimes committed by blacks - 13% of the population but 52% of violent crime.  I have no idea what the stats are for Canada - let's do that study before we claim racism.

The final stage of a propaganda effort is willfully ignoring news that doesn't fit the supported narrative and it's just in time for the election. I'm reminded of the Iraqi Minister of In formation (loved watching that guy).

A demographic shift is sure to follow and large cities will be the poorer for it at the precise instant they can least afford it. At that point, those who weren't part of the "protest" group will clash with those who are card carrying members of it. There needs to be a further catalyst though.... this isn't quite enough. I'm thinking mail in ballots and the myriad abuses they are subject to will tie the knot.

you don't know those stats because those stats were prevented from being collected decades ago because it was "discriminatory".  Stats are stats so yes they should be collected and used to target where things need to improve.

Chicago looters smash Ronald McDonald House with terrified sick kids inside

Sick kids and their families cowered in fear inside a Chicago Ronald McDonald House as looters smashed the front door while trying to get inside this week, according to staff.

The charity says more than 30 families, as well as some sick children with them, were left “frightened” by those who smashed windows as they ransacked the Windy City during Monday’s chaotic crime spree.

“They very concerned there was a lot of activity right in front of the house, people making choices that could put them at risk and put our families at risk so the staff was frightened,” Ronald McDonald House Charities’ Lisa Mitchell told ABC7.

The attacked property houses families so they and their children can be close to Lurie Children’s Hospital, which should be an easy and safe trip just five blocks away.

They are already in a really, really difficult spot, and having this kind of additional stress and worry about getting to and from the hospital … because of safety concerns is just doubling the strain,” Mitchell said.

Portland protest clashes re-emerge near US courthouse

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Protesters and police clashed in downtown Portland in a demonstration that lasted into the predawn hours of Thursday, with some in the crowd setting a fire and exploding commercial grade fireworks outside a federal courthouse that’s been a target in months of conflict for Oregon’s largest city.

Officers used tear gas to break up the crowd of several hundred people who gathered near the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse, the neighboring Multnomah County Justice Center and a nearby police precinct station.

Protests have been held nightly in the city since the police killing of George Floyd in May, who died after a white officer pressed a knee to his neck

Protesters hurled rocks, bottles and paint at officers during the demonstration that started Wednesday night and went into Thursday morning, Portland police said in a statement.

One officer suffered a hand wound described as serious several other officers suffered non-specified injuries and several people were detained, with one arrested on suspicion of vandalizing a police vehicle, the statement said.

The protests in Portland reached their apex last month outside the federal courthouse, with demonstrators clashing nightly with federal agents dispatched to the city to protect the courthouse.

The demonstrations dwindled after a drawdown of the agents, who were replaced by Oregon state troopers. But protests that turned violent re-emerged over the last week, mostly near a police union headquarters building miles from the federal courthouse.

Chicago Black Lives Matter organizer who called looting 'reparations' dismisses peaceful protesting

Ariel Atkins also blasted Mayor Lori Lightfoot's tough response to the looting

By Lee Brown | New York Post

Black Lives Matter activists defend Chicago looting as 'reparations'

Black Lives Matter is demanding the release of those arrested for looting; Garrett Tenney has an update.

The Chicago Black Lives Matter organizer who justified looting as “reparation” has doubled down — insisting this week that even calling someone a criminal is “based on racism.”

Ariel Atkins told WBEZ that her group “100 percent” supports the violent looters who trashed chunks of the Windy City Monday, again repeating her claim that it is “reparations.”

“The whole idea of criminality is based on racism anyway,” she told the NPR station.

“Because criminality is punishing people for things that they have needed to do to survive or just the way that society has affected them with white supremacist BS,” she said.

At least 13 cops were injured and 100 people arrested in violent clashes that led to a mostly black community in the troubled South Side to kick out a BLM march the next day.

Atkins attacked Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot — who is black — for calling the looting “straight-up felony, criminal conduct.”

“It’s like her deciding what is criminal and what isn’t,” Atkins said as she suggested that calling the thieves criminals was itself a form of racism.

CHICAGO ALDERMAN CALLS ON STATE'S ATTORNEY KIM FOXX TO RESIGN

“I will support the looters till the end of the day. If that’s what they need to do in order to eat, then that’s what you’ve got to do to eat,” she said of those who even tried to smash their way into a Ronald McDonald House caring for sick children and their families.

Atkins dismissed the idea that civil rights had “ever gotten wins” from “peaceful protests.”

“Winning has come through revolts. Winning has come through riots,” she said.

“The only people that can undermine our movement are the police, our oppressors, and then us when we don’t believe in the people that we’re fighting with,” she told the station.

“If anyone is attacking this city, it’s them,” she insisted of police.

“And anybody who is rising up and saying, ‘We won’t take this anymore, we’re going to do what we want’ — those are the people that she should be trying to protect, and those are the people that she should be getting outraged for,” she said.

" The whole nation stood together in solidarity for the senseless death of George Floyd.

So I’m curious, how many will stand together in solidarity & demand justice for the senseless death of Cannon Hinnant? Does HIS life not matter?

Cannon was 5 years old.  He was white. This past Sunday, he was riding his bike in front of his house & Darius Nathaniel Sessoms, a black male, walked up, put a gun to his head and shot & killed Cannon.

A 5 year old white boy was shot & killed by a 27 year old black male...on purpose....for no reason.

Did you read that?

Why does one life matter so much it captures our Nation, but no one is talking about Cannon?? I don’t want to look away.  I hope you can’t. I want to know why this little boy & HIS senseless death are not just as important.

Who is going to paint “Cannon” on the side of a building? What National sports team is going to wear T-shirts with his name on them? You guessed it. No one.

Every single person should be demanding justice for Cannon, the little 5 yr old boy who was killed for no reason but being white.

Think on that.  Look at his face.
I’m sick to death of hearing ONLY “Black Lives Matter".

The agenda here is to perpetuate division & promulgate racism. I for one am not going to feel guilty or apologize for being white, nor will I be quiet when the SAME THING is happening to others, but no one is talking about that. Because the color of Cannon's skin does not fit the agenda being pushed.

I’m standing up for Cannon Hinnant. Cause he mattered."

Here’s another story that makes you tear up, wondering what a little girl has gone through.........no comment from BLM:

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-

I’m sure the accused will blame it on something other than taking responsibility for his actions and choices in life.

“He has been charged with murder, as well as several other felony charges including being a convicted felon in possession of a gun. The sheriff said that he will also be charged with armed burglary and armed home invasion, and that there may be additional penalties due to the presence of children during the alleged crime.”

Take a look at the black baby abortion statistics on per capita basis in the US.

Then consider the following headline.

Black babies see higher odds of survival with Black doctors’ care: study

Black infants' mortality is halved when a Black doctor oversees their care, the study says

Now, I don't know what the statistics say about the voracity of the claim but it seems to me the implication here is pretty horrific.... I'm tired of fact checking bogus media claims and rapidly loosing interest in the reindeer games behind them. I've done this at some length with liberal gun control stats and I remain convinced that nail guns aren't firearms and 24 year old gangbangers aren't children. Your milage may vary.... time for a break. See y'all after the US election.

Best wishes to all.
