Oklahoma DA slaps teens with terrorism charges, accuses BLM of intimidating officers, protecting criminals

'When you employ these tactics for a political purpose, you are a terrorist,' Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater said.

Gingrich: Trump has obligation to defend innocent Americans who are not being protected by city governments

President Trump vows to send the federal government into cities facing violence despite backlash from local leaders; Fox News contributor Newt Gingrich weighs in.

Two teenagers are the latest to face terrorism charges after allegedly helping to break in the windows of an Oklahoma City bail bonds business in late May during the civil unrest that swept the nation in the wake of the death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis.

Several dozen protesters conducted a sit-in at the office of Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater on Monday to demand that he drop the terrorism charges and resign. But Prater maintained last month that those who incite violence in the streets are “criminals” who “have subverted peaceful protests and impaired the open discussion regarding race in our country.”

“When you employ these tactics for a political purpose, you are a terrorist,” he said.

Prater also accused Black Lives Matter protestors of trying to intimidate him and law enforcement and of defending “criminals who are violent, exploitive and unscrupulous.”

The attorney general said: “It is my job to protect innocent citizens and their property and I will continue to do it to the best of my ability.”

The local chapter of Black Lives Matter criticized Prater for bringing the terrorism charges against “protesters,” especially in Oklahoma City, where a “white supremacist terrorist attack” killed at least 168 people and injured hundreds more on April 19, 1995. The bombing was the worst terrorist attack to take place on U.S. soil until that on the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001.

“To conflate acts of vandalism against property with acts of terrorist violence against human beings is a moral and legal equivocation without compare,” its petition on Change.org said. “It is an insult to survivors of terrorism and it is a sacrilege to its victims. Please join us in condemning these charges and demanding that [Oklahoma County] District Attorney David Prater dismiss them without delay.”

Haley Lin Crawford and Sydney Lunch, who both turned 18 within the past month, were charged last week with acting with a large crowd to unlawfully break the windows of CJ's Bail Bonds in Oklahoma City on May 30, the Oklahoman reported. The charges came after investigators identified the two young women using Facebook Live video streamed by other demonstrators and tips to CrimeStoppers.

An anonymous article posted on Medium.com on Tuesday said Prater “chose to charge those demonstrating their First Amendment Constitutional rights with terrorism.”

“These charges carry a $1 million bond, meaning innocent Oklahomans are left to suffer in Oklahoma County Jail, which is routinely ranked as one of the worst jails in the nation,” the post said. “Prater even arrested a child on their 18th birthday — and is awaiting the 18th birthday of additional demonstrators to throw into jail.”

At least three others had been charged with terrorism after the May 30 incident.

Isael Antonio Ortiz, 21, of Welch, was indicted on two terrorism counts for allegedly first setting fire to an Oklahoma County sheriff’s van before then trying to burn down CJ's Bail Bonds, the Oklahoman reported. Eric Christopher Ruffin, 26, of Oklahoma City, was charged with terrorism and accused of encouraging “wanton destruction” by recording himself helping Ortiz set the sheriff’s van ablaze.

Malachai Davis, 18, of Edmond, was also charged with terrorism after investigators identified him on Facebook Live footage breaking the window of CJ Bail Bond’s using what appeared to be brass knuckles. His attorney, David McKenzie, called the charges against his client ironic given Davis’ own father died in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in 2001.

And at least six others have been charged with rioting. At least one has been charged with assault and battery against a police officer during the civil unrest that same May night.

“It is concerning and bewildering that this organization has chosen to defend criminals who are violent, exploitive and unscrupulous,” Prater said in a lengthy statement last week, referring to Black Lives Matter.

“These criminals have subverted peaceful protests and impaired the open discussion regarding race in our country,” he continued, according to KFOR. “These criminals are diabolic and strategic in their use of tactics historically employed by terrorists throughout the world; namely, targeting innocent citizens with violence and the threat of violence, intimidation, the dissemination of propaganda to disrupt societal and communal relationships and using peaceful protestors as human shields.

“When you employ these tactics for a political purpose, you are a terrorist,” Prater said. “No individual or organization will intimidate me or law enforcement from protecting those we serve by aggressively enforcing and prosecuting the law. When you act like a terrorist, you will be treated like a terrorist. All innocent citizens of Oklahoma County deserve to be protected. The citizens of Oklahoma County have a legal and constitutional right to personal safety and the protection of their property. It is my job to protect innocent citizens and their property and I will continue to do it to the best of my ability.”

Several dozen protesters on Monday marched from a downtown Oklahoma City park to the courthouse, where several demanded to meet with Prater and asked for his resignation. Those conducting the sit-in were arrested on trespassing complaints after they refused to leave when the building closed at 5 p.m., said Oklahoma County Sheriff's Department Capt. Charles Avery.

They want Prater to reopen his investigation into the April 2019 shooting death of 17-year-old Isaiah Mark Lewis by police in the Oklahoma City suburb of Edmond. They also want Prater to drop charges against some protesters who were charged with various crimes during demonstrations in late May against police brutality and racism, according to the Associated Press.

Ben Shapiro hits back at rewrite of US history: 'historically ignorant, stupid and counterproductive'

'It’s being rewritten that America was founded in racism and rooted in bigotry,' he says.

Ben Shapiro previews new book ‘How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps’

Radio host Ben Shapiro, author of 'How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps,' joins ‘America’s Newsroom.’

Conservative commentator and author Ben Shapiro appeared on “America’s Newsroom” to explain the thinking behind his new book, "How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps.”

“In order for a country to hold together, you have to have a shared philosophy, a shared culture and shared history, and all of those are under attack,” the host of "The Ben Shapiro Show" said.

Shapiro added that the Declaration of Independence is increasingly seen by some on the left as an “obstruction to a better or a more utopian world.”

“American history is being rewritten from a glorious history of an attempt to reach foundational ideals where we struggle, we fall, we get up, we push forward. It’s being rewritten that America was founded in racism and rooted in bigotry and all of the institutions of the United States are unchangeably horrible,” Shapiro said.

His comments came after more than 2,000 people flooded downtown Portland overnight during the 57th day of protests in Oregon's largest city, where President Trump has deployed federal agents despite the city’s outspoken opposition to the move.

Just hours after a federal judge blocked U.S. agents from arresting or using physical force against journalists and legal observers at protests, agents appeared to deploy tear gas early Friday to force thousands of demonstrators from crowding around the federal courthouse.Video

At least 100 agents were on the ground during some portion of the night, according to The Oregonian. Following a larger Black Lives Matter rally, demonstrators faced off against federal officers at the courthouse.

Meantime, workers arrived under cover of darkness early Friday to remove a Christopher Columbus statue from Chicago’s Grant Park – a week after rioters clashed with city police as they attempted to tear the statue down.

Shapiro said that America’s culture is “entrepreneurship and respect for other people’s rights.”

“Those are supposed to go out the window in favor of a culture that really believes that we all have to say the same things in the same tenor and with the same level of passion in order to be accepted into mainstream 'woke' society,” Shapiro said.

“The way that you battle back is pointing out that the United States is the most tolerant country in the history of the world and has spread its liberty and its prosperity to not only hundreds of millions of Americans at home, but to billions of people abroad. The basic idea that America was rooted in all of the innate human sins, as opposed to the ideals that have been foundational to a country that has attempted to alleviate and vitiate those sins, is historically ignorant, stupid and counterproductive.

The original agendas here have been highjacked by others with agendas of their own.But beware, because it's invariably true that those agendas are more extreme than the ones that set the wheels in motion.... they are simply the catalyst.

This is now way beyond peaceful protest, you have armed militias and explosives in play coupled with enforcement limitations on police occurring at the same time. That leads to more militias as people are left to fend for themselves and It can lead to an additional level of buffoonery.... an agenda within an agenda within an agenda. It's always three things.

What gives this event more potential is the political motivations at play and the support of main stream media outlets (control of the press is a huge factor). This is exactly how these things get out of hand and why people need to think twice before they twist the lid off the gas can under such conditions.

But they never do. It's like catching the same fish at 15 minute intervals over and over again on the same lure.... the fish will tell you he's winning because you keep throwing him back. Finally he becomes so weakened that he falls prey to a bigger fish... and that fish has only one question, WDYTWGTH?

If you actually look at the figures, not the rhetoric, it is the religious right wing supremacists who are inflicting the most damage.  One must follow the truth and not right wing conspiracy theory.

Anti-fascists linked to zero murders in the US in 25 years

As Trump rails against ‘far-left’ fascism, new database shows leftwing attacks have left far fewer people dead than violence by rightwing extremists

Donald Trump has made warnings about the threat of antifa and “far-left fascism” a central part of his re-election campaign. But in reality leftwing attacks have left far fewer people dead than violence by rightwing extremists, new research indicates, and antifa activists have not been linked to a single murder in decades.

A new database of nearly 900 politically motivated attacks and plots in the United States since 1994 includes just one attack staged by an anti-fascist that led to fatalities. In that case, the single person killed was the perpetrator.

Over the same time period, American white supremacists and other rightwing extremists have carried out attacks that left at least 329 victims dead, according to the database.

‘Leftwing violence has not been a major terrorism threat’

The database was assembled by researchers at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a centrist thinktank, and reviewed by the Guardian.

I made the mistake of not signing in before coming to the page.... last time I'll do that.

There is a cause and effect to these things. One thing leads to the other, one escalation leads to another. There are agendas within agendas each group hoping to piggyback their cause into the fray by splintering other groups. They will turn the artillery on their own people if it helps their cause and blame other groups for the carnage.... where have we seen that before eh? This is how it's done.

I have no dog in this fight and don't really care how how it turns out... I can take care of myself. My concern is for those who can't and I always considered that sentiment part of what it means to have liberal values. It seems to me that liberal values are worth as much as a pound of dog $hXX right now.

I'm simply telling you that based on my experience in other parts of the world, these agendas, focused blame games and tribal identities invariably lead to bad outcomes. I doubt you can point to one single solitary case where that isn't true. I can name many where it is. Let me put it another way, tribal agendas get people killed, that's what you are seeing happen right now.

You either get this or you don't and if you don't you are part of the problem, I recommend popcorn to enhance your viewing experience.... settle in for a long show.

I didn't write this, but it is pertinent and self explanatory.

One. More. Time. In case it’s STILL unclear.

400 years ago white people enslaved black people. And sold them. And treated them as less than human. For 250 years. While white men built the country and created its laws and its systems of government. While 10, 15 generations of white families got to grow and flourish and make choices that could make their lives better.

And then 150 years ago white people "freed" black people from slavery. But then angry white people created laws that made it impossible for them to vote. Or to own land. Or to have the same rights as white people. And even erected monuments glorifying people who actively had fought to keep them enslaved. All while another 5, 10 generations of white families got to grow and accumulate wealth and gain land and get an education.

And then 60 years ago we made it "legal" for black people to vote, and to be "free" from discrimination. But angry white people still fought to keep schools segregated. And closed off neighborhoods to white people only. And made it harder for black people to get bank loans, or get quality education or health care, or to (gasp) marry a white person. All while another 2-3 generations of white families got to grow and pass their wealth down to their children and their children's children.

And then we entered an age where we had the technology to make PUBLIC the things that were already happening in private-- the beatings, the stop and frisk laws, the unequal distribution of justice, the police brutality (police began in America as slave patrols designed to catch runaway slaves). And only now, after 400+ years and 20+ generations of a white head start, are we STARTING to truly have a dialog about what it means to be black.

White privilege doesn't mean you haven't suffered or fought or worked hard. It doesn't mean white people are responsible for the sins of our ancestors. It doesn’t mean you can’t be proud of who you are.

It DOES mean that we need to acknowledge that the system our ancestors created is built FOR white people.

It DOES mean that Black people are treated at a disadvantage because of the color of their skin and it DOES mean that we owe it to our neighbours-- of all colours-- to acknowledge that and work to make our world more equitable.

Interesting, and highlights what happened in that age.

Still has no bearing on what is currently happening in the U.S.

And this has "What to do with BLM?  or did you mean to post it in another topic?  Image result for Puzzled Emoji ?

Just showing how the republicans use money that is supposed to go to social issues in ways it wasn't intended.  Just like they put $1.5 billion in there too for a new FBI headquarters.

And before you carry on about how the dems do it too, yes they do, only the republicans are greasier about it.
