Seeker
Wow, never heard of this before. When the Hawker Hunter jets reach a certain speed, oncoming airflow over the gun ports creates the great sound known as the "Blue Note". It's similar to when you blow over the edge of a glass bottle. Guest1
London, Ont. Air Park could be a hot spot for niche hobby Park unveiled Thursday caters to core of local plane enthusiasts, planners say CBC News · Posted: Feb 11, 2022 11:45 AM ET | Last Updated: February 11 The Air Park at London International Airport overlooks runway 15-33, which officials say, is the airport's busiest. (London International Airport ) The London International Airport opened an airplane viewing park Thursday for local flight enthusiasts. YXU Air Park is located on Creamery Road, overlooking runway 15-33, which according to airport officials, is the airport's busiest. The park was built on an area leftover after a taxiway resurfacing. It includes informational signs and instructions about how to pick up radio transmissions from aircraft using a cell phone. Plane spotters unite Airport workers have long known about an enthusiastic core of "plane spotters" in London, said Gerry Vanderhoek, the airport's manager of commercial services and passenger experience. He said after the arrival of a Canadian Forces Boeing C-17 transport aircraft drew a much larger crowd than officials expected, planners thought it was time to give them a place to gather. "We had over 100 cars at the end of the runway," said Vanderhoek. "Literally you could not get down the road." He said the airport plans to install benches and children's play equipment at the park soon. Guest1
The Most Annoying Passengers on a Plane, According to a New Survey Stacey Leasca 1 hour ago Does someone reclining their seat on a plane set you off? How about a crying baby? Perhaps a snoring seatmate sounds like nails on a chalkboard to you? If so, know you're not alone, as these are all a part of the most common airline passenger annoyances, according to a new survey. Only Wanderlust, a travel resource website, recently surveyed more than 1,500 travelers on the most annoying passengers on a plane. "Many of us are flying again after an extended time off due to the pandemic," Amar Hussain, founder of Only Wanderlust, said in a statement shared with Travel + Leisure. "With that comes the trials and tribulations of sharing an enclosed space with strangers at 36,000 feet. We were interested to see what the most common annoyance is and where improper mask-wearing ranked as it is a new addition to air travel." Related: 8 Bizarre Reasons Passengers Have Gotten Kicked Off Planes Manspreading, body odor, and even the sometimes beloved tradition of clapping when the plane lands made the list. According to Only Wanderlust, the common airline passenger annoyances in order are: The Kicker — Your seat being kicked. The Stinker — A passenger with a bad body odor. The Loud & Proud — Other passengers talking loudly. The Leaner — Your seat being pulled or leaned on. The Drunk Flier — Drunk or tipsy fliers. The Noisy Kid — Crying babies or children.
