It’s an empty shell. Save for the structural mounting points and a couple of wiring bundles, the tank system is all external which allows us to fly it pressurized with a load on board.

Mud or water or a combination of both? Payload in dispersant?

That would depend on which agency hires them. The Aussies use gel injected water and foam in heavy tankers on occasion but in North America it’s primarily retardant.

Some other on the job photos. Two of my favourite cities. One of my least favourite and worst ATC control 

YYZ T3 photo: Stuck on ramp during pushback because tug did not have chains on its wheels. Contracted ground handler couldn’t find one. We blocked Lane 5 for a couple of hours. Ramp control was thrilled.
