Reality 2020

Recommended Posts

Imagine if 10 years ago you were approached by a time traveler and he was like "Look, I don't have much time to explain, all I can tell you is that the year 2020 is going to be wild as **bleep**! You know Donald Trump, the star of the apprentice? Well he's the president of the United States!  He became a rich entertainer but then the rich entertainers hate him and many poor people like the rich guy. The youth turn to another old rich white guy to save them. Meanwhile at the beginning of 2020 the president gets into a Twitter beef with Iran that almost starts world war 3. Australia catches fire and a woman tries to save it by selling pictures of her tits. Kobe Bryant dies in a helicopter crash. Half the world is devastated, airplanes are grounded the other half just makes stupid memes. Tom Brady leaves the Patriots to play for the Buccaneers and just when the world starts recovering from the loss of Kobe some dude in China eats a bat and starts a global pandemic that specifically kills old people and asthmatics. Chinese make Gucci shoes and Italians die. Everyone loses their minds. 40% of the population thinks it's the end of the world another 40% thinks it's all fake and 20% blames the whole thing on cell phone towers. The one thing everyone seems to agree on is that the only way to survive is by hoarding toilet paper. Grocery stores are ransacked and Charmin ultra soft essentially replaces the dollar as the United States official currency. Eventually as hysteria grows, Waikiki beach is closed parks are closed and liquor stores are open. People get tickets for walking a dog world governments are forced to shut the entire planet down and lock everyone in their houses and..... the only person that can keep the people from completely losing their minds and starting a huge riot is a homosexual gun toting Oklahoma man with two husband's, a meth addiction, and 223 pet tigers...

And that was all before Spring!!!!!!!!!!

Trumps latest idea is a good one...as long as he volunteers to be the test subject...put his money where his mouth is, so to speak..

Quote

The company that makes Lysol and Dettol is urging customers not to consume its cleaning products after President Donald Trump suggested the possibility of injecting disinfectants to protect people from coronavirus.

An Arizona Highway Patrol officer stops a Harley for traveling faster than the posted speed limit, so he asks the biker his name.

'Fred,' he replies.

'Fred what?' the officer asks.

'Just Fred,' the man responds.

The officer is in a good mood, thinks he might just give the biker a break, and write him out a warning instead of a ticket. The officer then presses him for the last name.

The man tells him that he used to have a last name but lost it.

The officer thinks that he has a nut case on his hands but plays along with it. 'Tell me, Fred, how did you lose your last name?'

The biker replies, 'It's a long story, so stay with me.' I was born Fred Johnson. I studied hard and got good grades. When I got older, I realized that I wanted to be a doctor. I went through college, medical school, internship, residency, so I was Fred Johnson, MD. After a while I got bored being a doctor, so I decided to go back to school. Dentistry was my dream! Got all the way through School, got my degree, so then I was Fred Johnson, MD, DDS. Got bored doing dentistry, so I started fooling around with my assistant and she gave me VD, so now I was Fred Johnson, MD, DDS, with VD.

Well, the ADA found out about the VD, so they took away my DDS. Then I was Fred Johnson, MD, with VD. Then the AMA found out about the ADA taking away my DDS because of the VD, so they took away my MD leaving me as Fred Johnson with VD. Then the VD took away my Johnson, so now I am Just Fred.'

The officer walked away in tears, laughing.

“ Political Correctness is the cause of the vast majority of the problems plaguing North American society.

PC is a mental illness that has the ability to destroy ....not enhance our culture. Nor does it celebrate our culture.

Its intent is to make you feel guilty for being normal, for using common sense, for being white, pink, black or brown, for standing for democracy, marriage, family, individual rights, live and let live. It destroys free speech.

PC is the culture of GUILT. The Culture of Socialist pussies. It is the evaporation of common sense culture.

It is now in full swing. People will get angry eventually and then all hell will break loose....that you can take to the bank.”

The term 'Political Correctness' is what the right likes to slap on anything their Dunning Kruger doesn't allow them to comprehend.

I don't think it's that simple, but I certainly wish it was.

IMO, mainstream parties be they Liberal/Democrat or Conservative/Republican have simply refused to cut loose and set adrift the fringe elements that dwell on either side of the line graph. It seems to me this is self defeating and stands as the root cause of the current plague of divisive polarization. These are the people with non negotiable agendas, there is no sense wasting time on debate with them, you think you are having a discussion…  you’re not.

They are the reason for sanctuary enclaves where the rule of law is suspended (be it immigration, gun control, abortion, emergency response orders etc). This  is a bad development with frightening potential consequences and there is much more of it to come. People now have cause to fear the result of democratic elections... that's where it starts.

Fringe elements given legitimacy by virtue of tolerance are as dangerous to our democracy now  as they were to Rome’s. Their influence spreads because governments tolerate them... but moderate citizens don't and never will. The breakdown occurs when moderate folks feel they need to protect themselves and have no recourse but to establish their own rule of law. Ironically, If they were cut loose to form their own parties with their own respective platforms, they would simply be cults, totally defanged by the majority and sacrificed to the scrap heap of history.

When you consider the quote “thinking themselves to be wise, they became fools” you can see that the "repeat function" has been selected. We know it will continue... and the reason we know that is because we have seen it all before. I'm grateful that I have the opportunity to watch this play out, I would have thought that by now there was sufficient history available to initiate a flashing master warning light but it seems to be covered with duct tape. Fun fact - there were no binoculars on the bridge of the Titanic either.

As to Harley, they managed to alienate the people who kept them in business during the lean years. When the evolution engines came on the scene, their reliability got everyone and his dog on a Harley and you passed yourself a hundred times on the way to work.  They simply forgot about the people they needed to remember.

My break with Harley came on the day they refused to mount a tire for me because the bike was over 10 years old. It's actually a 1966 FL and the Honda shop down the street was happy to mount that tire for me... I never went back and never will. It wasn't that they said no, it was the way they said it and there was a long lead up to that point.

The number of lifelong Harley guys who now drive Indians are legion and most will tell you a similar story. When I wanted a new bike that's why I went Indian.  Prior to that, I had driven nothing but HDs since I was 13 years old. If not for Harley arrogance there would be a new Road King in the shed right now. When I left, I told the maintenance manager the day would come when they would run out of retired guys willing to buy their $60 T-shirts. Glad to see it's finally here. Indian sales are doing great and all the motor company had to do to keep us diehard HD riders was........ nothing.

My "Bike Guy" that services my machine and does my tires flat out refuses to touch a Harley or anything related to Harley.  Our local Harley dealer alienated several of my riding buddies to the point the ownership of the dealer changed.  problem was they kept the same staff and attitude.  Every HD rider I know now travels an hour or more to a "friendlier" dealer.

Watch the imbedded video here... not Tucker, further down the page.

Pretty sad, and I bet this goes on a lot. Stuff like this is the reason I spend 2 hours a day in the gym, it has nothing (absolutely zero) to do with being health conscious. The day I'm afraid to walk through a parking lot is the day I know I'm old. I know that day will come.... but it sure as hell isn't today.

It's the same (or was) in my area as well.

I know some Indian folks (ex Harley types) who will park 111 cubic inches of shiny heavy metal front and centre at the Harley dealership and browse the $60 T-shirt section. Apparently their revenge is the crowd of people around the bike and the sales staff glaring at them.

After following the link to twitter I was lead to another video of the same guy beating an elderly woman.  Odd thing is that in both videos it appears that he's making the recording himself - it's not hidden camera.  With any luck Karma's a real thing.

A couple of years ago me an a buddy (Street Glide) went to the Black Hills to do some riding.  We stopped for lunch and while we were there a group of all Harleys pulled in.  EVERY ONE of them stopped to check out MY Honda Valkyrie.  Sometimes even Harley riders show taste.

Unfortunately the people who SHOULD be watching this video and acknowledging the utter failure of their ideology are the ones who ignore them because it’s “Fox News”.

Freedom is cost of government cash gusher

We’ve arrived. It’s been such a long, hard haul, but the destination wasn’t really in any doubt: Government is now deemed responsible for everything.

This current COVID-19 pandemic is simply providing the final push across that finish line, with new regulations imposed on things previously thought beyond even officialdom’s grasp.

Now we’re told exactly where and when our kids may play and how close we can approach our neighbours while, in compensation, billions upon billions of magically manufactured dollars are showered upon everyone and everything with a gusto not witnessed since Justin Trudeau found some black face paint in a bottom drawer.

Do as you’re told and we’ll give you free money. That’s the name of today’s game. And this one-two punch has effectively broken the backs of those remaining Canadians who’d once considered themselves freedom-loving individuals, responsible for their own successes and failures.

Look no farther than the latest clarion call from our city’s restaurateurs; annoyed meal-delivery outfits are grabbing too large a slice from the current dine-at-home business.

Yes, they are saying the city should step in and cap fees charged by outfits such as Skip The Dishes and Uber Eats.

Once upon a time, in a country long since lost, people running restaurants might have come to a different conclusion when discovering fellows delivering meals to their customers were grabbing commissions as high as 30 per cent.

Maybe, instead of hiring an outside agency to do delivery, they’d employ a few unemployed young Calgarians to do the work. (I vaguely recall young lads from the local pizzeria once doing exactly that. Maybe it was a dream.)

Or perhaps, instead of forking over more than a quarter of the bill to Skip The Dishes, restaurants could offer a 15-per-cent discount for customers picking up their own grub? That’s a decent inducement, even in times of social distancing.

And there once were people called entrepreneurs here in Calgary; the type who’d spot a business opportunity in this; maybe starting their own service to undercut these current delivery outfits and thereby kick-start a commercial empire.

Yes, like Don Southern and his son Ron once did — seizing an opportunity by displaying a few trailers-for-rent on a gas station forecourt in Calgary 70 years ago. It would become ATCO. But that was then. This is now.

Today the Pavlovian response from our restaurant folk calls for government to ride to their rescue, imposing regulations on those dastardly delivery companies — ones they themselves initially hired, incidentally.

Mayor Naheed Nenshi responded he’d prefer the marketplace sort this out before council gets involved.

“Look, I’m a free-market guy,” said our mayor, thereby proving, despite all the current challenges, his sense of humour remains intact — at least until Coun. Jeromy Farkas posts something naughty on Facebook.

Meanwhile, these restaurateurs who want the city to step in should ponder the consequences.

Already they complain, with justification, that over the past five years they’ve been hammered by increased tax rates, carbon taxes, minimum-wage hikes and a host of other governmental strictures.

So, if the city does indeed take this latest appeal on board — and no government ever ignored for long any opportunity to loom even larger in our lives — then please don’t moan when your business taxes subsequently increase. Because city hall will obviously need to hire more staff to administer this urgent call for civic oversight.

Oh well. If you can’t beat them, join them. I’m therefore considering starting my own organization called Chow Down Cheaper. Our first act will be to demand the city outlaw the ludicrous mark up on booze and plates of various meats sold at local restaurants.

Come on. A bottle of plonk that retails for

$25 is marked up by at least 150 per cent whilst various slices of cow go for double any supermarket price.

Oh yes, of course the restaurants will wail about their overheads, rates, staffing, insurance and such, just like those Skip The Dishes lot once did.

Before they packed up and left town.
