I don't know about that but since both carriers had a sale on at the same time and now both are extending their sales (presumably because of a shortage of demand) , it seems to me that there are too many seats chasing too few passengers.

Or people will not buy unless they think it is a SALE

It's the season of sales... thanksgiving, halloween, black friday, christmas, etc, etc. etc.
