WestJet during the weekend of 19MAY19’s schedule update filed service changes to Hawaii, from Calgary and Edmonton. The airline currently plans to operate Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, replacing 767. 

Calgary – Honolulu eff 08DEC19 737 MAX 8 operates 3 weekly. This replaces 2 weekly 767 service in W18
08DEC19 – 15DEC19 Day 57
16DEC19 – 24APR20 Day 157

WS1860 YYC 1615 – 2039 HNL 738 157
WS1861 HNL 2140 – 0705+1YYC 7M8 157

Calgary – Kahului eff 15DEC19 737 MAX 8 operates from this date, instead of 28OCT19. The 737 MAX 8 operates 4 times a week, 787-9 operates twice a week (787-9 operation was highlighted last week on Airlineroute). This replaces mix of 737 MAX 8 and 767 in W18
WS1858 YYC 1100 – 1513 OGG 7M8 123
WS1858 YYC 1100 – 1427 OGG 789 46
WS1858 YYC 1330 – 1743 OGG 7M8 7

WS1857 OGG 2130 – 0703+1 YYC 7M8 x456

Edmonton – Kahului eff 08DEC19 737 MAX 8 operates 2 weekly, replacing 767
WS1884 YEG 1635 – 2106 OGG 7M8 57
WS1885 OGG 2215 – 0750+1 YEG 7M8 57

Separately, preliminary schedule for summer 2020 also sees 737 MAX 8 assigned on additional routes, also appeared during the weekend of 19MAY19’s schedule update:
Calgary – New York JFK One flight scheduled on 03JUN20
Toronto – Grand Cayman 30APR20 – 28MAY20 1 weekly

Planned Boeing 737 MAX 8 operation remains pending

Perhaps they have no alternative, how does this stack up against the AC Schedule?

Re WestJet, perhaps the layover is needed for Crew Rest ?  Or is that not long enough?

whats  the frequency of the flight.  Might it not be better to position a crew there for the return flight.  Makes for a great lay over.
