FA@AC
AC leaves aircraft on the ground at GRU for 8-9 hours routinely, but I think the time is used to perform certain maintenance functions.

Re WestJet, perhaps the layover is needed for Crew Rest ? Or is that not long enough?
boestar
whats the frequency of the flight. Might it not be better to position a crew there for the return flight. Makes for a great lay over.
Tango Foxtrot
Perhaps noise restrictions at the return airport?
Guest
8 hours does not seem like a very long rest time.
spreadsheet
It's to pick up connections on both sides. From another forum: "The OGG schedule is pretty typical for longer mainland-OGG flights, actually. DFW/PHX/ORD-OGG all run on similar schedules as do lots of inland-HNL flights."
Super 80
Who is connecting at OGG?
