Conservatives....The Future of Ontario

Recommended Posts

“ The Ontario Progressive Conservative Party's leadership race has come down to two choices. Doug Ford or someone other than Doug Ford.

That was readily apparent yesterday on a cold, snowy night, in a bleak area near Pearson Airport where Ford was able to get almost 2000 people to turn out to enthusiastically launch his leadership bid.

The cavernous north building of the Toronto Congress Centre was filled to near capacity by people from different parts of Ontario. The room represented more diversity than any other political candidate of any of Ontario's major political parties ever has or could muster.

That's part of the magic of the Ford brand.

At his launch, Ford reiterated his commitment to fiscal responsibility, his opposition to a Carbon Tax, and his drive to reversing the economic decline, corrupt spending practices, and abuse of taxpayers that are all facets of Kathleen Wynne's disastrous Liberal Party government.

The electricity in the room was incredible. If Kathleen Wynne were there, she would have tried to figure out a way to tax it. I haven't seen anything like it in Canadian politics before, and as a Young Liberal, I was at rallies that featured both Pierre Trudeau and Jean Chretien. It was as close to rock star popularity as a politician in this country gets.

I was standing near the edge of the rally with a friend and some new acquaintances who are long-time Progressive Conservative Party insiders. They came out of curiosity and were not disposed to supporting Ford. But they remarked that there is no way that his main leadership rival, Christine Elliott, could ever generate the type of enthusiasm and support that Ford does.

Ford reminded his supporters that they have to encourage everyone they know who isn't already a member of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party that they have to join in order to vote for him in the leadership race. It costs $10 dollars and a link to membership sign-up is here.

Charisma matters in a political campaign. So does credibility about keeping promises. Ford has both and is the best bet Ontario has for a Premier who will serve the people rather than manipulate them. “

So because his brother had a disability in the form of a drug problem, the entire family is painted with the same brush?

I don't live in Ontario so none of it affects me very much but I was at an event last year where Doug Ford gave a short speech.  I wasn't impressed - doesn't come off as a put-together-guy.  Rambling, disjointed, told a couple of stories that really made no sense (of course he's still about 100 times better than Wynn.)

So.....will Doug’s popularity be able to carry him out side of the GTAA?

Probably not.

I think one of the two women will win because it’s 2018 etc. Christine Elliot couldn’t even beat Brown last time around so she is probably DOA.

My bets on Mulroney because of the name. Same qualifications that got The Turd elected. ZERO! These are Ontario voters so one has to keep expectations as low as possible.

Doesn't matter who you elect these days as it's just a figurehead role (a la Zaphod Beeblebrox).  The real power is the people in the back room.

“Caroline Mulroney is a Harvard graduate who studied law at New York University, is fluently bilingual, worked for a couple of decades in finance, started The Shoebox Project — a non-profit that provides gift boxes for women in shelters — and until announcing her leadership bid, was vice president of BloombergSen Investment Partners, a Toronto-based investment firm.”

She might have a high profile name...but unlike the sock, she has just a tad of business experience compared to our part time snow board instructor/drama teacher.

This statement by her father will come back to haunt her.

“  During an interview with CTV’s Power Play on Monday, in which Mulroney spoke about the death of former British prime minister and fellow conservative Margaret Thatcher, he also took time to praise Trudeau.

“I’ve known Justin since he was a child. He’s young, articulate, attractive – a flawlessly bilingual young man. What’s not to like with this picture?” he said.

Mulroney confirmed as just “Patrick Brown” lite as she endorses all his policies. Another Liberal in sheeps clothing. Not getting my vote!

That was in 2013, now that he has been PM for a couple of years, Mulroney knows exactly what's not to like with JT

A New Entrant....

Pro-family, sex-ed foe and mother of 4 runs for Ontario Conservative leadership

Parents as First Educators has been foremost in leading the charge against the Liberal's sex-education program for children in schools, which was rammed through by the Wynne government in 2015 despite massive parental backlash.

Critics point out that the Liberal sex-ed curriculum was originally overseen by education guru and now-convicted child pornographer Ben Levin. They say it ignores marriage and love, normalizes teen sex while minimizing its risk to health and future relationships, and promotes LGBT sexual lifestyles.

It's got to be a bad dream in progress; people really can't be stupid enough to have elected all the cartoon characters that are currently charged with protecting our collective future.

A recent review view of the Ford Campaign.....

“  We need a No Bullshit type of leader. Ontario cannot continue to handle the level of crap seen by the Liberals. While the economy is surging south of the border, we need to be vigilant with our economics. We need to fix Hydro One, axe the carbon tax, we need a regulatory mandate on fuel prices, we need our school system to be clear and precise on our values, We need to re evaluate our Health system in Ontario and support it, and we need a fair tax structure for new business and our people. Canada does 1 Billion in trade per day with the USA, we need a leader that will open the communication with the USA and get our people back to work instead of making it easier for them to leave. This is just a beginning, after this we can fine tune much more. But we need a leader who is NOT afraid of the MSM or the Bleeding Hearts in this province. I dont care what diet soda you drink, your suit colour, or what your brother did. I care about this province, and im supporting you to fix it. Lets put the Fordnation logo on a Bulldozer and clean this place up.”

Thankfully not my future.  I want a "Ralph Klein" clone to run and win.  Maybe then we can cut down the spending and reduce the debt load on my grandchildren.

Why not elect Ford!  Ontario is going to legally sell drugs, he has experience!

Not sure if he will win but he is going to give them one hell of a run for their money. Guess it depends on how many “Deplorables” come out of the woodwork and  have their say.

If Wynne ( and Notley ) haven’t  already totally blown woman’s chances for the rest of eternity, one of the 3 women will probably win ....probably the one with the most $$$ backing her.

“ Standing in front of the shuttered Don Bosco Catholic Secondary School in Etobicoke, a school with ties to his late brother, Ontario Progressive Conservative leadership candidate Doug Ford vowed to revisit Ontario's sex-ed curriculum if he's elected leader and then becomes Ontario premier.

"Sex-ed curriculum should be about facts, not teaching Liberal ideology," he told the crowd on Monday afternoon. "Parents should have the final say in what they want to teach their kids past this point."

Ford is referencing the province's controversial sex-ed program for Grades 1 to 12, which rolled out in 2015. Under the curriculum, students learn about sexual orientation, sexting and consent among other topics.”

This highlights exactly why we needed a new sex ed curriculum.  What they taught previous to the change was a basic plumbing course.  Our children these days, through the magic of the internet, are not only exposed to more information about how sex works, but to other things such as pornography  which is offered without context.

Most parents these days aren't willing to address the other issues such as consent,  orientation, sexuality, and in my opinion, somebody has to do it.  If it makes your child come home and ask a question that makes you uncomfortable, then you need to be educated as well.

I partially agree. Kids of today should be enlightened...to a point....

In my opinion, it is none of the governments business how and what my kids are taught about sex. That’s is the parents responsibility....PERIOD! No single generic program can adapt to a multicultural society without offending someone.

Especially when the program is pushed by a leader (sic) who is under the control of the sicko LGBTQADRFGTUU society and .......was developed by a now convicted child sex pornographer.

Another one of Wynne great achievements!

I have lost track, but I am sure there is supposed to be a number in there somewhere.  A 2 or a 3?
