Kip Powick
Yup. little fuel, no pax, no baggage/cargo and maybe no seats or galley and it can be done....awesome...
conehead
Pretty cool. I once experienced something similar in a DC-9. Two pilots, myself and another AME onboard.... sure felt like a vertical blast-off!
DEFCON
I'd feel much more comfortable pulling stunts like that in a machine with better than a 1:1 thrust to weight ratio than something that runs out of inertia & poop so quickly and wants to stall. Kip Powick
You sound jealous and I beg to differ....it may not have been a actual 90 degree climb-out but it was damned close...... I would imagine there is not an airline driver here that has every had a transport aircraft, (thank goodness), in that attitude..... He flew on the edge of the envelope and had to bunt over at the top as he was running out of speed but....... obviously, not ideas......well flown
Fido
I seem to remember an RAF Vulcan doing a stunt like that at the YXX Airshow.
