Seeker
Who says you need to be an aeronautical engineer to design a new aircraft? http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-drive/culture/technology/a-personal-plane-for-commuting-to-work/article29915076/ PS - (in case you're wondering - that's sarcasm)
Zan Vetter
An aircraft that needs a flat surface for ground effect ie a highway? Jeez if you want a $250,000 car just buy a Lambo. ZINNNNNNG
boestar
Water is sufficient as well. The russians figured that out many years ago with the Caspian Sea Monster and the like. There were several Ekranoplanes (sp?) built.

Yes, it's possible when necessary for some military purpose such as trying to hide from radar but completely impractical for any civilian type of transportation. The part that I find amusing are the 40 tiny props that are supposed to make it possible to do a VTOL and then will draw the air over the wing to make normal flight possible - any 1st year engineer would laugh at that. Also note the landing gear configuration - looks cool but completely unacceptable if you actually want to fly it, the the stance of the thing with tail sticking up in the air, the rear control surfaces which are wedge shaped. All these things show zero knowledge of aerodynamics.
