As I once understood the process; an air carrier is required to pay the ac manufacturer for a 'Supplement' to the ac flight manual, which will include performance charts, other relative documentation and the authorization to operate at a higher MTOW.

Defcon: You are correct. It comes packaged as a Service bulletin and carries a ridiculous price tag for what it physically is. I suppose the price is the cost of certification they are recovering

It's the AFM that has to be updated to the new higher or lower weights. I don't think the cost to lower the weight is significant compared to the cost to increase it....

And its the AFM weights that are used in calculating the landing and over-flight fees that airports and ATC charges.

She arrived in YYZ, not sure how accurate the time is though. A 1:45 flight from YYC would indicate she has a different propulsion system than all other 767-300ERW's have

On that link, if you click on the flight number you get this:

Looks like your link is from a flight on Sept. 24th, according to the "arrived 3 weeks ago" comment and this, but yeah, 1:45 to YYZ is pretty quick:

Westjet must have hired "Mr Scott" as an AME.
Scotty: I say it's old, Mr. La Forge. It can't handle the interface of your power converter. This equipment was designed for a different era. Now it's just a piece of junk.

There is now a flight plan from YYZ to YYC but none from YYC to YYZ, guess they must be using the "Transporter"

Is that not just chasing the jet stream?

The route also saves a lot of NavCanada charges.

Nav Canada figured that part out a long time ago. Any flight that operates between two points in Canada pays Nav Canada all mileage, including that flown in the US, at Canadian rates. Likewise for flights between 2 US points... the mileage in Canada is paid to the FAA at FAA rates.

Kip. sims are good but to really familiarize crew with a completely new aircraft, actual flight time is the best ....... Yea or Nay?

Other than a training flight, what would be your explanation oh wise one? :Grin-Nod:

I was based in YYZ...Took the A310 course in France plus...7 Sim sessions....Flew from YYZ to YUL with 5 other pilots, did a few touch and goes and simulated emergencies....next day full revenue load to YYZ-YYC and return.

I would think that if crews wanted to have actual hands on flying they would not go all the way to YYZ from YYC just to have that experience...Just my WAG...no "wiseness" out here in Dotland. :biggrin2:
