blues deville
New armrest design may solve airplane seat problem. http://edition.cnn.com/2014/05/02/tech/social-media/apparently-this-matters-airplane-paperclip-armrest/?iref=obnetwork
Kip Powick
I don't think so...now a fight begins for upper and lower with skinny arms vs fat arms..................... but more importantly it looks like it could be a hazard in an evacuation.

acsidestick
I'd like to know what happened with Delta's staggered economy seats. I thought they were going to sweep the world and become a new standard. I don't know if they even made it into a plane or not. The idea was simple enough, each row of three would be staggered about 5 inches between each seat. You wound up losing 1 or 2 seats in the end, but no one was touching anyone else, and each customer has two armrests. Hard to believe this hasn't swept the industry. feather
Looks like a fairly dumb design. Not enough armrest for either the top or bottom. Somebody will sue the airline for carpal tunnel thrombosis of the synovial hinge in both official languages. And whoever gets the top tier will wind up displaying dominance characteristics for the entire 11 hour flight.
Seeker
Looks to me like there would be an ensnarement hazard to that design - would be easy to have your coat, for example, get hooked trying to rapidly exit from the window seat. I can't see it getting TSO'd for that reason.
