boestar
I dont think the AREA we take up is of prime concern. It is the resources that are consumed by each of those 7 Billiuon People that is of prime concern. There is a finite amount of resources on the planet and as the population increases the rate of consumption increases until there is nothing left. At that point we must have either found another planet to inhabit or reach the end of the current lifecycle of the planet. Which will, as has been done before, start again. DEFCON
I saw something recently that considered how many chickens, pigs, cows, and fish etc ‘each of us’ consume over a lifetime. If everyone alive does fit into Ontario, that doesn’t really leave much in the way of the arable land necessary to the production of all the grains etc required to produce all that animal protein? Then there’s the trees, which at a minimum, we need for O2 production and many other life-sustaining processes.cb737 says; “The population should stop growing as more people move into middle class.”That’s the same kind of thinking that’s led us astray in so many of our socialistic endeavours? If 85% of human population growth is now the product of the ‘third world’ and amongst peoples for whom the basics; law, order, health care, education, and many other norms of the middle class are not present and probably unachievable; how can your ‘suggestion’ above be remotely close to the reality the world is facing? DEFCON
This is but another example of reality; too many people competing for too few resources.
