Looks kinda cool and if they are getting the conversion rates they say they are then efficiency will be through the roof compared to todays engines.

Will have to watch this one.

I wonder how the numbers compare to the Wankel engine, which never really took off?

The Wankel engine's Achilles heel was its fuel economy which it doesn't have, period. They are a great engine though, they're used in homebuilts because they never quit.

They may have something happen that will cause them to not start but if they are running and they have gas they run forever. Very neat concept just a hog on fuel.

The Mazda RX-7 used the Wankel engine exclusively.

The Wankel engine as used in the RX-7 was essentially a 2 stroke engine in the way it burned the fuel hence the poor economy. It did however create a nice smooth power and was always a pleaseure to drive. There are fewer moving parts as well which is nice. the biggest issues with them was the apex seals on the rotor which would wear out and cause loss of power and required a complete teardown to repair. the also "use" oil more than a conventional engine.

If it sounds too good to be true then it follows............

or

Probably will not see the light of day...inventor may have an accident.....R and D data may be lost.....the inventor may take an all expense vacation with no worry of $$$ for the rest of his life...;)

How many "new" powerplant concepts have been written up in Popular Mechanics and the like? I can't even begin to count. I'll wait until the proof of concept is running around a test track before I get too excited.
