apple
This rumor is running fierce at both camps. WJPA denies it but I'm certain they would be the last to know. Thought it worth asking here.
melcrothers
I can't see the logic for either party. Sunwing have the best tour operation with the extensive experience of Colin Hunter. WestJet have the best airline and deep pockets. WJ don't need Sunwing.... the airline is the main focus and holidays just tops up tail burning spare aircraft time ( supposed to but its grown I know beyond that ). There may be an advantage to Sunwing if WJ bought it out - but the fundamental question to be asked is why the heck would WJ need or want too?IMHO. Who knows but its already Monday afternoon where I am sitting. I suppose the sun destination market is once again near saturation with AC Vacations, WestJet Vacations, Air Transat, Thomas Cook, Sunwing, CanJet and Enerjet. For some reason this is an old and never ending story in Canadian leisure air travel. As Angus Kinnear used to say, "Not enough bums to fill all of the seats".bd

Fido
Airlines do not make money standing still. The only way to profits is through operational growth to keep ahead of the fixed cost growth.
AME
but the fundamental question to be asked is why the heck would WJ need or want too?Sunwing's 787 slots?
inchman
but the fundamental question to be asked is why the heck would WJ need or want too?Sunwing's 787 slots?Except Sunwing is not listed as a 787 customer. I guess they might be one of the 4 unidentified customers (unlikely) or have booked aircraft that are identified as being purchased through a leasing company.
