Jaydee
If it's not bogus, one should be mandatory in every home!http://www.flixxy.com/convert-plastic-to-oil.htm
Kip Powick
More info on the subject. It sounds strikingly simple, but unfortunately, melting plastics will usually involve a lot of heat and a lot of smoke. But if Japan’s Blest Company can market its invention to everyone, we would not have such a problem with plastics. The Blest machine processes plastics in a manner safe for home use. Using heat, it turns plastic back into usable oil without releasing carbon monoxide and toxins. The end product can be used to fuel stoves and generators. The oil produced can even be further refined for use with vehicles.Blest’s current model can convert 1 kg of plastics into 1 liter of usable oil. The catch? Each machine costs $9,500. deicer
If the technology is viable, then wouldn't the price come down with mass production?Having said that, the other question is, what amount of energy input is required to produce that litre of oil? Is it worth it?Much like fuel from algae, as well as cellulosic ethanol, this too will be supressed for the next while.Iceman
Seeker
Here's link to a video of the process:Plastic to oilAnother website mentions that it takes 20 cents worth of electricity for each litre of oil.
inchman
So, the question is, is it more efficient to recycle plastic into plastic, or recycle it into oil, then produce plastic?
