CANCELIFR
Hey lets keep it real here for a second. Bean and Dag show great insight into the industry, and I look forward to their battles. They have the inside info and track record to prove it. Don't let him get under your skin -Rattler, its Beans version of trash talking. Mitch you say things the way they should be, and the way I wish it would be. Cheers
chockalicious
Mitch has it right. Saying that the sun will rise tomorrow seems to generate genuflection from the Beans followers. Perhaps if you had any insight other than unfunny one-liners people might listen when you had something to say. As I said, seeing as basic comprehension seems to be beyond your grasp, the messenger can be rough, but the message is remarkably accurate. shockwave
Hey bean just wondering if Westjet will report stats on Westjet Vacations separately or will the numbers be included in Westjets overall fiscal reporting? I wouldn't want to be starting a vacation arm right now with the economy as it is and having the sun in my eyes all the time.

Maverick
and your pithy contribution is? Don't forget to genuflect. Impressive, two replies totaling 28 words and you managed to used genuflect in both of them. Obviously getting good use out of that new Thesaurus. But I digress, typically Fido you can't see the forest for the trees. Bean is a numbers guy. There is much that could be disputed but that isn't one of them. He has been chillingly accurate when it comes to airline failures. Don't like it? Tough, most of us here have a VESTED interest in knowing what is going on industry wide. You still haven't shown where he was wrong. Holy smokes, he's got you all snowed? ...How about you tell us where he's been right about anything that even I couldn't have told you? Mitch, the difference is you didn't tell us now did you? You are correct in your other post. The problem is the messenger not the message. As for Porter? I guess we'll see. I tend to agree with you on that one. I think they might have the right aircraft at the right time. Although....Do they have any competition yet at Toronto Island? Maybe Fido will use Porter as his example.

Thebean
$50 an hour? Highly overpaid. ...a day to me is a minimum of 24 hours......and I don't take dollarettes. As for WJ Vacations, I have no idea what they plan to do. People forget that the concept of WJ vacations, (ie packaging air with hotel), started in the late fall of 1996 with Calgary-Victoria packages. What's happening today is a logical extension of what started way back then.
Fido
Impressive, two replies totaling 28 words and you managed to used genuflect in both of them. Obviously getting good use out of that new Thesaurus. Nice to see the Westjet Cheer Leaders come out again. But I digress, typically Fido you can't see the forest for the trees. Bean is a numbers guy. . and that is all he is. Same old numbers repeated over and over even when they have nothing to do with the topic at hand. But, he only has the same numbers all the time. Same song. There is much that could be disputed but that isn't one of them. He has been chillingly accurate when it comes to airline failures. Here I will make a prediction: The next airline start up in Canada will fail. I don't need numbers. The odds are 90 to 10 that my prediction will come true. If the prediction does not come true in the first few months then I will just wait. It will evetually come true won't it? Don't like it? Tough, most of us here have a VESTED interest in knowing what is going on industry wide. You still haven't shown where he was wrong. Wrong? No It is just pablum that he dishes out. The only time that he has been accurate is when he gets inside numbers from somewhere. It doesn't bother me a bit because I see that he has a one trick pony and amazes people like you with the flim-flam. He is seldom wrong because he doesn't really say anything other than the same number over and over and you go AHHHHH. He provides me with humour

He provides me with humour There are a couple of new airlines operating, or soon to be operating in the America's that have very good chances at success. Why do they have good chances of success? They are well financed. They are run by people who know what they are doing, with a proven track record. They have sound strategies. They know exactly the niche they are after. They have picked the right aircraft for the mission. They have developed the product from the ground up with the cost structure required to be successful and to thoroughly insulate them from a competitive response. They don't come around that often, but when they do, I put my money where my mouth is and invest in them. If the characteristics for a successful airline that creates shareholder value by consistently generating profits well in excess of industry averages as a result of profitable growth is boring or repetitive for you, may I suggest you continue to follow the financial and market exploits of your favorite legacy carrier. Guest rattler
Thanks, I hadn't thought about that one as their activity is limited at present. Their backers do have very deep pockets, so they are unlikely to shut down due to lack of cash. They had planned to expand into the US but I guess that will wait until better times and of course until their web site becomes bilingual. Re deep pockets though, that is not always the charm, remember what happened to Oasis. They are still going through their wind up with creditors etc. http://www.oasishongkong.com/download/Webs..._160908_Eng.pdf

yul07
Yes and he cashed out big time, actually twice, once at SWA as well. He went on to start B6. It would be kinda cool of he decided to come back here and take on his old buds at WS. After all Alberta was good to his pocket book the last time he was here.
