  1. Brash and rude at times, but still the only guy that's been able to get anything done; all the rest were political windbags. Trump just said no to renewing the Iran deal ... gotta love the guy for doing the right thing! If there ever was any possibility the deal might be extended, even temporarily, it was probably torched the moment Kerry arrived in Iran to hold 'secret' discussions with the leaders of the terror state. What kind of promises did Kerry make to the Iranian leadership and on who's direction was he acting? Even the politically blind should recognize the dangerous internal political place America is in now.

  2. "Dellandrea asked the judge to consider a prison sentence of 3 1/2 years — one for the making child pornography charge, six months for possession and two for the more serious counsel to commit. Defence is asking for just two years in prison." If the judge follows through on the crown's sentencing request the perp will be out of jail in 18 months if the other inmates don't kill him first. I guess we can only hope for prison house justice because the sentence doesn't even begin to justify the cost of the process to put him away and the public deserves a better outcome.

  3. Seems perfectly fine to me. What's the big deal of picketing a shareholders' meeting anyway? It's not like they are important - just a dog and pony show, mainly for pensioners because only they have the time to go, and a lot of them go for the donuts and coffee. Would you rather ALPA pull a CUPE and block the roadways into Terminal 3 here in Toronto? I guarantee that would capture a lot more attention and chase away more future bookings. Picketing a shareholders' meeting is pretty tame stuff and if anything, shows ALPA is not ready to threaten summer bookings in a serious way. Believe me, they could do a lot more damage if they really wanted to, but right now want to give the company every chance to make a reasonable deal.

  4. Seriously? WJ management has had since last September to negotiate a contract. Instead, they have slow played negotiations and are attempting to continue this strategy so they can get Swoop started up with outside labour. It will be nigh impossible to get Swoop shutdown if it gets started up. Its now or never for the WJA pilots if they want to maintain/improve their WAWCON and stave off 50 years of whipsawing.

  5. Why would the Westjet pilots want to partner with the company to have a portion of their previous flying be operated at reduced pay and working conditions? What would this demonstrate, that they are chumps? This isn’t 1991 any more, its a sellers market for pilots.

  6. To read this article one would think Canada never lifted a finger to help Germans into the country in the past. Could it have been handled differently.....possibly....apologizing for history is ludicrous, learning from it is paramount. “ In the 2016 Canadian Census, 3,322,405 Canadians (nearly 10 per cent of the population) reported German origins, and 404,745 people in the country reported German as their mother tongue. A large proportion of these respondents lived in Ontario or central Canada. “ . Trudeau’s rating are down so he has to do something to prop up his failed image. His Snowflake supporters are demanding some attention so this will be another excuse for the resident idiot to cry again in front of the world. To actually think Trudeau even knew of the incident, or cared, before some staffer dug through some archives is laughable at best. Has anybody considered the timing of the event? Immediately prior to WW2? The entire world was concerned about Hitler and impending war during that era. The more important question to be asked is why they were turned away by the politicians of the time? Much like the recent influx of questionable Islamists during a time of terror in the world, I would suggest the same thing was being considered as a possibility back then. This whole thing is just another publicity stunt from Trudeau.

  7. Disagree. If WJ pilots were flying Swoop aircraft I bet there'd be a contract in place, some positive momentum towards the future, and a lot less distraction and turmoil.

  8. Maybe it comes as a shock to some but many of those office workers put in a lot of hours in excess of 40 hours/week, free.

  9. Looks great both inside and outside, I like both! That's their future and where the focus should be!

  10. Speaking of Livery Years ago when I was stationed in the USA we flew the CV580 (Military Cosmo) out of Colorado Springs and were all over North and South America. Our Flight Engineer was excellent but a bit of a "crusty" old fella and every once in awhile he would come up with a good line. We were at Montgomery Alabama on some type of a mission and were being handled by civilian contractors. One old fellow wandered around the Cosmo and met up with our Flight Engineer as he was buttoning up the starboard engine. The civilian Contractor was looking up at the aft part of the fuselage and said to the Flight Engineer, "What does ' Forces Armees' mean in that round logo on your airplane?" Our Flight Engineer responded, rather quickly, "It means "Door on other side".

  11. Substandard wages? I thought it was working conditions similar to the “other” guys? I’m sure the office 9 to 5 support staff were thrilled to see the unhappy pilots standing outside their windows.

  12. If you're referring to the dismantling of the education system, defunding science into the environment, removing EPA protections, removing banking protections, etc, etc, then yes, have been keeping an eye on that too.

  13. imo rallying at the AGM at such a critical juncture, much like conducting a strike vote during negotiations, are bad diplomacy and poor negotiations. It's as though ALPA is putting on a show for the public, as opposed to focusing on getting results with the company in private. Pilots from Air Canada joining is also poor taste...way to fan the flames!
