But damage is described as extensive

http://ca.news.yahoo...-032014871.html

Edit: I misread the article, fire began in the air, but I cant change the headline. I don't know if this is one of the new J series CC-130s or an older one. From online material, it seems 436 and 426 squadrons are certainly flying the new J series, but not sure of 435. I'm sure the ex-military guys who follow these things can clarify this from the websites they follow.

OTTAWA - Nine members of the Canadian Forces were safely evacuated after their military aircraft caught fire Tuesday at a base in the U.S.
The CC-130 Hercules was participating in a training exercise when it caught fire at the Naval Air Station in Key West, Fla.
Those on board made a successful emergency landing and fire crews put out the flames.
The military is describing damage to the aircraft as extensive.
Lt-Col. Richard Pamplin, who command's the crew's squadron, says he's proud of the way those on board followed through on their training and got everyone out safely.
He added that he's relieved to confirm all those who were on board are safe and in good spirits.
The aircraft and crew are from 435 Transport and Rescue Squadronof 17 Wing Winnipeg.
They were providing air-to-air refuelling support for the training of new CF-18 fighter pilots from 4 Wing Cold Lake in Alberta.
An investigation has been launched to determined the cause of the blaze.

Gee Dagger..maybe flying airplanes is a little more dangerous then you let on. Guess we should pay everyone nothing for these and airline jobs.

Good job lads landing her safely. Thanks for serving our country so that others may sleep.

If you can live with the RCAF pay scale at Air Canada, I can.

The RCAF pay scales are not too shabby when you consider they include a lot of benefits including the ability to get a full retirement pension much earlier than AC. Mind you I would not complain if their wages / benefits were increased.

6897
7537

I did for 14 years while you slept. Now with 37 years in aviation...I continue to expect to be paid accordingly.

The starting RCAF salary is twice the starting Brand XX Airline Pilot  wage. In many instances that starting XX pilot was ex RCAF or other experienced aviation type. Industry Brand XX is half salary to the RCAF. I am proud of our RCAF folks and they deserve much more.

Disgust and contempt is all I have for those destroying aviation globally and those who cheer it on for their own financial gain.

Enjoy the fruits of that endevour..within 5 to 10 years....the chickens will come home to roost..like lawn darts.

Look forward to your articles then.
