It's hard to identify anything that definitively says that's Vancouver in 1907, but hard core Vancouverites might spot some tell tale signs or landmarks.

There's a similar film circulating from San Francisco about the same era.

It does appear they had more public transit in 1907 than they have today....

This was apended to the file:

It's a film of everyday Vancouver life in 1907, filmed from a trolly car.

The film starts at Georga St. looking North down Granville, follows
Granville and turns right on Hastings, follows along hastings - skips a bit
but turns left to go up Main St. .

In the link the route describes the car as turning South on Carroll
there were no tracks on carroll south of Hastings, the car went right past Carroll past the old BC Electric and interurban depot and up to Main st as described above..

An enterprising film maker should retrace the exact route and do a split screen version showing 1907 and 2012.  It would be absolutely fascinating.

Nostalgic, but can you imagine the smell associated with all the horse-poop that's laying on the streets?

Can't be all that more offensive than many of the smells that greet you in Vancouver today...

I believe that such a DVD has already been made, take a look here: http://www.vancouver...arbeck_film.htm

Cheers,
