Just when you think MPs couldn't even agree what time it was...  When it comes to lots of J class flights....

"And for once, it appears that MPs from all sides of the political spectrum are united against serious cuts."

The cutting back on flights, and especially J class flights will resonate with the electorate.

I'd like to see an accounting of the Parliamentary Restaurant on the upper west floor of the Center Block.  Though it's been a while since I've eaten there, I've always been intrigued how they could offer Alberta Tenderloin for lunch at $9 or so a plate when the same entree would cost about 3x that in the real world.

It's not just the politicians though....every parliamentary media hack was gorging off that hunk of government cheese....

There was a big party on the hill after the killing of the gun registry, and the taxpayers paid for it. Lets just say it wasn't a Coke and popcorn affair, but we're going to be more fiscally responsible.

If Iggy had thrown such a party at your expense, you'd have been at the front of the line to throw him under a bus.

Thank god he never got a chance! :P

Re  the cocktail party, I can not find any news item talking about a "Huge Cost" , do you have a link to one?  Lots of stories about the Liberals and the NDPs being upset with the celebration but strangely none about celebrations by "responsible long gun" owners.

Labour Minister Lisa Raitt teared up at last week's caucus meetings because she is concerned that fewer free flights would mean less time with her family and her young children.

It wouldn't mean any fewer flights, it would just mean she would have to pay instead of me.

That would be a good thing.

Is she a better parent than all of the unionized workers who have had their rights to collective bargaining stripped away?  Is she more deserving of the time she spends with her children?  No wonder she is so adamant about not allowing Air Canada employees disrupt air travel - she's doing it for personal reasons.

This is karma biting her in the ass.

Neve saw anything she said or did involving your pass travel.......   Amazing that you would conclude that I was suggesting that she was a better parent.......   B)

Pass travel? Nothing in what you quoted made mention of pass travel, what are you on about?

...and what is "amazing" from my perspective, is that you would "conclude" cp fa had given any indication she'd concluded anything of the sort.... She asked a question. Questions do not usually indicate conclusion.

For CP FA not Mitch  , I jumped into the pass lane as I read that into your post.  Your statement re better parent seemed to imply that I was saying she was.  If I misread you, sorry about that.  Cheers Malcolm

Yes, Malcolm, you pretty much missed the point of my post.  I wasn't commenting on her parenting skills, I just think it is extremely hypocritical of her to be whining about how having her overly generous perks shaved back will effect her family life, after she has taken away the collective bargaining rights of unionized workers, as if that won't have any effect on the families of those workers.

Her actions may or may not have any effect on the families of those workers but their going out on strike or otherwise shutting down AC would def. have an effect.  I guess it all comes down to the degree of effect.   Cheers

When a government - and that's any government - has a "do as I say, not as I do" modus operandi, they do not deserve to be defended, even by their strongest supporters. If the anti-labour act continues, this will be a one term majority government, with the potential for Jack Layton's replacement to become PM. Food for thought, IMHO.

No hope in hell for the NDP but with 3 years to gain back voters, the Liberals might have a chance to form a minority government.  The problem facing the NDP is no Jack to carry them on his back.

You need to slow down a bit - last week you did a cut-and-paste from some newspaper and completely missed the point of the article and now you "jumped into the pass lane" and responded to something that wasn't even in her post.  Just a suggestion, but maybe if you read twice and post once you'd improve your accuracy.
